Caitlyn Jenner’s Trans Athlete Comments Resurface, Jenner Doubles Up

Earlier this week, Lia Thomas made history as the first trans woman to win the Division I NCAA swimming championship. On Thursday (March 17), Thomas finished first in the women’s 500-yard freestyle. She is also participating in 2 other competitions this weekend. The historic win has helped resurface some old trans athlete comments from Caitlyn Jenner and in the past two days since Thomas’ win, Jenner has doubled down on her opinion.

Multimillion-dollar former reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner has made her position known through tweets that have taken her to the top of the Twitter trending chart. Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Athlete and Olympian Bruce Jenner, and is the father of famous reality TV personalities; Kylie and Kendall Jenner.

Jenner originally tweeted an opinion on trans female athletes in January. There have been strong reactions within the transgender community, as well as mixed support and feelings between the two.

In the latest comments to the Daily Mail, Caitlyn Jenner’s opinion of trans athletes has once again been clarified.

“I don’t think biological boys should compete in women’s sports – we have to protect women’s sports… that’s the main thing,” Jenner, 72, said.

“I don’t see how you can be happy beating other girls under these circumstances. You must have a sense of personal responsibility. You can still play sports but not play at a competitive level, right? »

PinkNews was one of the first outlets to push back against Jenner’s comments, calling out Jenner. They also note that Jenner recently competed in a women’s golf tournament.

Jenner quoted the tweet and offered an explanation. Jenner claimed, “I had the balls to represent women in sports.”

Jenner also pushed back against the idea of her competing in women’s golf tournaments in separate tweets.

There have been many opinions on both sides of the argument on Twitter over the past 24 hours. Unfortunately, Lia Thomas has to compete through that cloud all weekend and at upcoming events as these debates continue across the country.

Here are some of what Twitter had to say about Caitlyn Jenner’s trans athlete comments.
